History

Virginia Satir (June 26, 1916 – September 10, 1988), celebrated as the "Mother of Family Therapy," devoted her life to improving human relationships and deepening understanding within families. Throughout her life, she authored several acclaimed books on family therapy and was instrumental in founding notable organizations such as the Mental Research Institute, International Human Learning Resources Network (IHLRN), and The Avanta Network, now known as The Virginia Satir Global Network. Her commitment was unwavering, as she continued to write and teach around the world until her passing in 1988. The Satir Model, which she developed, extends beyond family therapy, offering valuable insights for enhancing communication and personal growth in various contexts.

 Virginia Satir's unique blend of compassion, insight, hope, and transformative methods universally address the human experience, affirming her place as a pivotal figure in modern therapy. Her vision for The Avanta Network, which has evolved into The Virginia Satir Global Network, included the creation of a dedicated learning center. This dream is realized in today's Virginia Satir Global Learning Center, which upholds her legacy of healing and empowering individuals and communities.
