Family Reconstruction is one of the most powerful & complex processes within the Satir Growth Model—capable of illuminating deeply held beliefs, revisiting family-of-origin dynamics, and opening the door to profound inner integration and healing. But leading a reconstruction requires more than technique. It requires presence, clarity, emotional steadiness, and a deep respect for the client’s internal wisdom.
In this two-day virtual masterclass, you’ll be guided by Jean McLendon and Regina Taggart—two of the most experienced Satir-based facilitators working today—as they walk you through the structure, principles, and facilitation approach needed to support a Family Reconstruction. This is not a theoretical lecture. It is a rich, process-oriented training designed to bring the practice alive in a grounded, responsible, and experiential way.
This training provides 8 contact hours approved for NBCC continuing education credits (CEUs).
Learning Outcomes: Through guided teaching, group reflection, and structured exploration, you will:
- Learn how Family Reconstruction fits into the wider context of the Satir Growth Model
- Gain a clear framework for how to prepare, structure, and hold the process
- Understand how to determine when a client is ready—and when they’re not
- Explore how to use sculpting, roleplay, and symbolic mapping to surface intergenerational patterns
- Practice identifying key choices a facilitator must make in the moment
- Discuss the ethical responsibilities of the guide and the importance of containment and safety Reflect on your own readiness to engage this work as a practitioner
Jean and Regina will share insights from decades of experience—naming what they watch for, how they set the tone, and what allows the process to move forward without becoming overwhelming. While you will not be facilitating or observing a full reconstruction in this session, you will leave with the structure and lens needed to make sense of what comes next.
Who This Is For: This training is designed for Satir-informed practitioners who are actively exploring or considering the facilitation of Family Reconstructions. It is also appropriate for those in academic or training roles who want to incorporate sculpting, family mapping, or systems-based experiential work into their teaching or supervision.
This video series is ideal for Satir-informed practitioners, supervisors, and educators who want to deepen their understanding of how Family Reconstruction functions in live practice.
