Satir Model Demonstration School

In this issue we want to highlight the incredible work of those involved in creating the first school adopting the Satir Model for their whole staff!  Listen to this incredible story.
In November, 2013, Zibo Century Talents Foreign Languages School was officially established as a Satir Model Demonstration School. Through the cooperation of the primary and middle school students, their parents and teachers, the universal Satir concept of family education is beginning to spread throughout China. This school community has become strong advocates for extensive communication of the key Satir ideals of “Peace Within, Peace Between, and Peace Among.”
On the First of September, 2014, Century Talents Foreign Languages School hosted the Satir Model Demonstration School opening ceremony. This auspicious event featured Dr. John Banmen of the Satir China Management Center, Zhao Xinfa of the Education Bureau, and Zhang Wenjun, President of Century Talents Foreign Languages School.  At this event, Dr. John Banmen accepted the role of International Professional Guide and Consultant.  As such, he will supervise the creation and application of the Satir Model School-Based Curriculum.
In January, 2015, the Satir Demonstration School was initiated with the establishment of the “Love-Alliance.” Three months later, through parent-child workshop fees, the “Satir Love-Alliance” was able to cover the costs of college tuition for low-income female scholars. This marked the beginning of many programs hosted by Zibo Century Talents Foreign Languages School at their Satir Demonstration School. With congratulations from Dr. Banmen, and now with international recognition, a learning community of ten scholars was established to follow the practice and teachings of Maria Gomori, John Banman, Shen Mingying, Lin Wencai, and Cheng (Pauline) Di. With this plan and encouragement, a series of Satir Model seminars, open to the community, have been held including the “Satir Parents-Children Relationship Workshop” for parents of students, the “Single Parent Family Grow Group,” and “Emotional Management” activities for Middle School students through art activities. Furthermore, the “Satir Happy Family Workshop” hosted well-known tutors Wei Min, Tian Yurong, Cao Yuhong, Sun Shufang, Duan Ruibin, and Yang Yun. Finally, in Spring of 2017, internationally famous tutor, Mr. Stephen Buckbee, opened the Satir Mandala Workshop at Century Talents Foreign Languages School.
Over the past three years and through the support and encouragement of Dr. John Banman, the Satir Model Demonstration School has established itself as a foundation source of information addressing school-based curriculum construction, research project development, and all aspects for the practical application of the Satir model in the family as well as the classroom. The Satir “people oriented” belief in self-value through personal growth has been shared with more than 600 parents and more than 200 teachers through many classes and seminars. This is just the beginning. At present, the first edition of the Satir Model in Education, Love You as Soon as You Show,” is about to be published.
