News Flash: 2017 Satir Global Awards

2017 AWARDEES for FURTHERING VIRGINIA’S TEACHINGS

We are excited to tell you about the 2017 awards that we gave at the IHLRN meeting in October in Sunriver, Oregon. And we are grateful that we could do this at the IHLRN meeting and have everyone participate in the honoring.

The awardees were: BARBARA JO BROTHERS, MICHELE BALDWIN and BUD BALDWIN.

Barbara Jo was honored for many things including facilitating the establishment of an academic based Satir model practitioner certificate program at University of North Carolina, her work in Russia and the Ukraine and for her publishing including 41 journal articles, 16 chapters in monographs, 11 chapters in books, and the yet to be published, Well Being Writ Large: The Essential Work of Virginia Satir.

Michele was honored for authoring the classics, Step by Step and the Use of Self. She also co-edited 12 videos featuring Virginia. In addition to writing, she has been on the faculty of the Chicago Center for Family Health and the Family Institute of Northwestern University.

Bud was honored for his work in the field of medical education. He has published over 200 articles and 3 books and was given the John C. Gienapp award for his outstanding contributions to the enhancement of residency education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education activities.

And both Bud and Michele were honored for furthering Virginia’s teachings through their couples training and modeling a loving relationship!
