A writer’s group of 10 therapists trained in the Satir Model selected 11 articles written by Satir to include in this work.  Each stands as a chapter with an introduction by one of the therapists from the writer’s group.  The chapters are presented in chronological order in order to give the reader a sense of Satir’s intellectual journey over time.  The eleven chapters include:  Schizophrenia and Family Therapy, The Family as a Treatment Unit, Family Systems and Approaches to Family Therapy, Growing Edge of Myself as a Therapist, Making a One Parent Family Work, Conjoint Family, a Partial Portrait of a Family Therapist in Progress, The Therapist and The Family, When I Meet a Person, Therapist’s Use of Self and The Therapist’s Story.
