Welcome to our new site

Welcome to our new site.

We apologize that it is not fully functioning but we decided to take the risk and launch it anyway as we wanted to make good on our promise that a new website was coming soon.  If there are parts that aren’t complete or something doesn’t function properly, please be patient with us. We are volunteers who have jobs and families and so developing a new site has been a momentous task but one we believe is really important for informing and connecting those around the world who are, or want to be, a part of the Satir community.

As the president of the Satir Global Network, I decided to use the format of the  “Temperature Reading,” as a way to share with you.  For most of you, this is a familiar term and process, but for any new visitors to the site, the “Temperature Reading” is a process that Virginia Satir created for helping groups share with each other.  And the categories are:

Appreciations:  First and foremost, I appreciate Duane Osterlind as he has worked tirelessly to help us develop our new site.  On his team have been our Board members, Becky Winant, Pat Medvick, Steve Smith and Gundolf Strehl as well as the professionals we hired to create the site, Charlie Boudreaux and originally Nynke Fokma and Willem van den Ende.

In addition to these folks, we have had one of our members, Steve Buckbee, helping.  For those of you who have been a member of the network, you may remember that Steve has been the one urging, actually pleading, with us for many years to get up to date technologically.  Thank you, Steve, for hanging in there and helping to make it happen!

Concerns/Puzzles:  My concern is how to best connect with everyone.  We are starting a new group of “Special Envoys” from different Satir groups around the world that we hope can help us with this, but I would love to get more ideas from you.

New Information:  The interest in our network is growing!  We have an average of two people a week sign up for our e-newsletter so we are now close to 700 people.   Due to illness of several of our Board members, we have not been able to get out an e-newsletter as frequently as we had planned, but hope to rectify that once the site is up and running.

Hopes and Wishes:  My hope is that this site will truly help people feel more connected and informed and inspired to promote the teachings of Satir such as:

People are miracles and worthy of love.

Each person is a manifestation of the life force and has been given the wonderful gift of an internal Spirit.

Change is possible.

We have choices, especially in terms of responding to events rather than reacting to them.

We can connect on the basis of our similarities and grow on the basis of our differences.

When we get new information, we have new possibilities.

I simply wanted to thank you once more for the amazing site you have developed here. It is full of ideas for those who are really interested in this subject, in particular this very post. Your all amazingly sweet in addition to thoughtful of others as well as reading the blog posts is an excellent delight with me. And exactly what a generous present! Dan and I really have excitement making use of your suggestions in what we need to do next week. Our collection of ideas is a distance long and tips might be put to fine use.

I am desperately searching for the “I Am Me” poster and have learned that it is out of print.
Can you please tell me if it will be available again.
I have a perfect place for it in my office and I know how much it would help my clients to view it.
Thanks!
